Title: Effective game programming education and the new age of computing with enchant.js
Abstract:
Released in 2011, enchant.js is an HTML5+JavaScript framework for developing simple games and applications. Over 3,000 games have been created using the framework, and for a variety of platforms, including the Nintendo Wii U and iPhone. Recently, even business software has begun being developed with the engine. Although being relatively new and open-source, much has been achieved with this engine in Japan, including its use for projects by big names such as SEGA.
Additionally, the company (Ubiquitous Entertainment, Inc.) has innovated a tablet PC, called the enchantMOON, and its integrated and proprietary OS, MOONPhase, based on enchant.js. The enchantMOON implements a novel interface centered on the concept of having “No UI,” and specializes in handwriting recognition.
Allow us to introduce and show you the techniques used by Japanese universities and companies for teaching game programming, and the world we envision as the next generation of computing.
